Major Equipment Offering Prior to
Demolition. Co-Generation Plant consisting of 9.4 Megawatt Electrical
Power Generation & Distribution Equipment. Facility completed in 2003.
GE Steam Turbine Generator System, Conveyor systems, gas diffusers,
cooling towers and support equipment.
This
plant is a 10 megawatt cogeneration power plant, which utilizes a
biomass gasification system. The plant is designed to use wood waste
fuels. The fuel is processed, dried, and stored before being fed into a
fluidized bed gasification system. The gasifier provides low BTU gas to
a 125,000 lb./hr., 600 psig, 700°F boiler. The steam from the boiler is
supplied to a reconditioned 10 megawatt turbine generator. Steam is
extracted from the turbine for use by the adjacent Industrial Plant. The
electricity generated from the facility was to be used by the Industrial
Plant or sold to the utility company. Unfortunately, the plant became
obsolete upon completion due to cost of waste wood and change in
Tennessee Valley rates.
The overall plant is
primarily comprised of used and reconditioned equipment with the
exception of the boiler turbine and fuel buildings. All of the equipment
was obtained from existing facilities.
